Maharashtra's government declared a day of mourning on Thursday to honor Ratan Tata, the esteemed patriarch of the Tata Group, who died at 86. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced state flags would be at half-mast, and all government cultural and entertainment events would be suspended in respect.

In a heartfelt tribute, CM Shinde stated Tata's last rites would be conducted with full state honors, acknowledging his immense contributions both as an industrial magnate and a compassionate societal leader. His remains will be available for public homage from 10 am to 4 pm at the NCPA.

Reflecting on Tata's legacy, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis emphasized his role in establishing a philanthropic trust and pioneering initiatives that propagated India's image globally. As the country grapples with this immense loss, Tata's influence remains unwavering in the hearts and minds of millions.
