Surajpal, also known as 'Bhole Baba', presented himself before a judicial commission in Lucknow. This appearance is part of the ongoing investigation into the Hathras stampede, which claimed 121 lives at a congregation he led on July 2.

The Uttar Pradesh government had set up a three-member judicial commission to explore potential conspiracy elements and assess the mismanagement claims laid against the event's organizers. Despite 11 arrests concerning the tragic event, Surajpal himself is not listed as an accused in the FIR.

While authorities point to overestimated crowd numbers as the cause, Surajpal's legal counsel suggests 'poisonous substances' may have instigated the chaos. Currently, a police inquiry runs parallel, and financial aid is being provided to affected families.
