The Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) has ramped up security measures across the city in anticipation of the Durga Puja celebrations. Officials are taking robust steps to avert any incidents during the festive period, with special precautions underway. The SMP, in coordination with related agencies, conducted a strategic meeting to iron out the security plans. Siliguri's Police Commissioner, C Sudhakar, shared detailed insights with ANI regarding the security blueprint.

Commissioner Sudhakar elaborated, "We are overseeing seven significant puja events, six of which are officially licensed. We have an on-ground force of 2,000 police personnel, alongside specialized anti-crime units and Pink Nobel teams dedicated to protecting women. Additionally, two business-focused teams and drones will monitor the events closely. Given our proximity to the international border, we've forged collaborations with the BSF, SSB, ITBP, and other central authorities to fortify border security. Rest assured, the police are resolved to safeguard your well-being."

A substantial force, comprising around 2,000 officers, has been stationed across vital hubs in Siliguri, covering streets and highways to uphold public order during the festivities. Surveillance through security cameras at crucial sites, including Puja pandals, is bolstering monitoring efforts. Public support is being further enhanced with assistance booths in strategic locations, while quick response teams are poised to handle emergencies swiftly. The SMP's commitment is unwavering in its mission to ensure a joyous and secure festive period for all attendees.

In cooperation with security entities such as the Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the SMP is steadfast in maintaining security across international border zones adjoining Siliguri. (ANI)
