The home voting facility for elderly voters and persons with disabilities culminated in Srinagar on Saturday evening, with over 69 voters casting their votes. Khalid Hussain Malik, Zadibal Constituency's Returning Officer, noted that the home voting provision is aimed at those who are physically challenged or have a disability exceeding 40 percent and elderly individuals over 85 years old. 'This program culminates today. We are present at Lati Mohalla, and will conclude with the voting of Ghulam Mohammad sahab,' Malik told ANI.

Notably, a centenarian woman also utilized this facility to cast her vote. Malik added, 'It is a message from the Election Commission of India that every vote is important, and polling parties reach out to every eligible voter. I urge all voters, on behalf of ECI and the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, to come out and exercise their right to vote.'

The ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir saw the first phase of voting on September 18, with subsequent phases on September 25 and October 1. Counting is scheduled for October 8. The first phase witnessed a 61.13 percent voter turnout across seven districts, with Kishtwar recording the highest at 80.14 percent. The elections are notable as they follow nearly a decade gap and the abrogation of Article 370.
