The Jharkhand High Court has directed the state government to respond to a petition, questioning the legal provisions for the suspension of internet services for several hours during a recent day.

The division bench, comprising justices Ananda Sen and Anubha Rawat Chaudhary, reviewed the petition filed by Jharkhand State Bar Council chairman Rajendra Krishna. The petition raised concerns about the prolonged internet suspension on September 21, which lasted from 8 am to 1.30 pm.

Krishna's letter to Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad highlighted the notification freezing internet services, allegedly impacting commerce and daily activities. The court mandated a government response within four weeks while allowing the suspension to proceed on September 22 for the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE).
