Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Saugata Roy on Tuesday demanded that SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, who is facing allegations of conflict of interest, should be summoned before the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), according to sources.
The request emerged during a meeting to assess the performance audit of the Jal Jeevan Mission. However, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey opposed this demand, arguing that such a move violates committee regulations, sources said.
Quoting Dubey, sources mentioned that the CAG principal auditor is restricted from auditing SEBI without central government authorization, leading to a debate on procedural norms. The decision on Roy's demand lies with PAC's chairman, K C Venugopal.
