PAC to Investigate SEBI Chairperson Amid Conflict of Interest Allegations

Amid a growing political storm over conflict of interest allegations against SEBI chairperson Madhabi Buch, the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has announced plans to review the performance of regulatory bodies established by Acts of Parliament.
PAC Chairman K C Venugopal confirmed the Committee's decision to consider summoning Buch for an examination of the allegations, stating, 'The Committee will take a decision on summoning Buch for examination.'
The PAC has outlined an agenda packed with 161 subjects for review, including reforms in banking and insurance, the performance of welfare schemes, and policy measures for transitioning the energy sector. They will also audit fees and charges levied on public infrastructure like airports, many of which are managed by the Adani Group.
