The Enforcement Directorate raided the residence of Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in Kolkata on Thursday. The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
Previously, a CBI court remanded Ghosh and three others to judicial custody until September 23 in connection with the case. The CBI had arrested Ghosh on September 2 following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, which called for a probe into the matter. The Indian Medical Association suspended Ghosh's membership amid the investigation.
The CBI had also conducted polygraph tests on Ghosh as part of another probe into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at the institution. The Supreme Court recently dismissed Ghosh's plea against the CBI investigation ordered by the Calcutta High Court, citing his lack of locus standi to challenge the adverse remarks made against him.
