Surankote sector witnessed the solemn celebration of Hill Kaka Day on Wednesday, honoring the soldiers and civilians who perished in the anti-terrorist Operation Sarvanash in 2023.

In 2023, the Indian Army, in collaboration with local villagers, launched Operation Sarvanash to eradicate over 100 terrorists from Hill Kaka in the Poonch border district. A villager recalled, 'The militant base was in Hill Kaka. With the help of police and civilians, we have removed militancy from Hill Kaka. I hope Jammu and Kashmir remains safe.'

School students recited poems and performed acts to honor the bravery of the Army and civilians. Another villager noted the change, 'In 2002, no one dared pick up a gun due to terrorists. With courage and the support of police, we ousted militants from Hill Kaka. Today we honor the fallen heroes.'

On September 9, an intelligence-led anti-infiltration operation by troops of the White Knight Corps in Lam, Nowshera, neutralized two terrorists and recovered significant arms, including AK-47s and grenades.
