Israeli Forces and Hamas Militants Clash Amid Polio Vaccination Campaign
Israeli forces have killed 33 Palestinians in Gaza within the last 24 hours, announced Palestinian officials. Despite ongoing clashes with Hamas militants, brief pauses allowed medics to proceed with a polio vaccination campaign for children. Diplomatic efforts to secure a permanent ceasefire remain stalled.
Israeli forces have killed 33 Palestinians in Gaza within the last 24 hours, announced Palestinian officials on Tuesday. Among the casualties were women and children, with deaths reported across various locations in the territory. The Israeli military confirmed the killing of eight Palestinian gunmen, including a senior Hamas commander.
Despite the ongoing violence, the World Health Organization continued a mass polio vaccination campaign, entering its third day. The initiative has successfully vaccinated around a quarter of Gaza's children under 10, facilitated by brief humanitarian pauses in the fighting.
Efforts to secure a permanent ceasefire remain stalled, with diplomatic negotiations failing to progress. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated that military operations will continue until Hamas is eradicated, a point of contention preventing any lasting agreement.
