A polio vaccination campaign aimed at inoculating children in Gaza commenced on Saturday. The Strip's Health Ministry made this announcement just before a large-scale rollout and a planned halt in fighting, agreed upon by Israel and the United Nations' World Health Organization.
Associated Press journalists documented the initial vaccinations at Nasser hospital in Khan Younis. The campaign follows a ceasefire facilitated by WHO, set to allow health workers to vaccinate around 650,000 children.
Meanwhile, Israel continued its intense military operations in the West Bank, resulting in numerous casualties. This combined with recent car bombings near Israeli settlements has exacerbated tensions. The international community remains alarmed at the potential for the conflict to further escalate.
