The Congress on Monday pressed the government to clarify its position on Brazil's proposal for a two percent wealth tax on dollar billionaires, set to be debated at the upcoming G20 Summit in November.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress's general secretary in-charge communications, pointed out that India's silence is notable considering a recent report identified 334 Indian dollar billionaires.
Ramesh further criticized the ruling party, contrasting the current administration's approach with the previous year's G20 Summit hosted in New Delhi, while emphasizing the support the proposal has already garnered from France, Spain, South Africa, and Germany.
