Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed on Saturday that the state government has thoroughly reviewed the recommendations of the Justice (Retd) Biplab Sarma Commission regarding Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, which aims to safeguard the cultural, social, and linguistic identity of the Assamese people.

"We discussed extensively the recommendations of the Justice (Retd) Biplab Sarma Commission. A total of 52 recommendations fall under the state's purview, while 5 require joint action between the state and the centre. We aim to implement the 52 suggestions before Bohag Bihu," CM Sarma stated.

Regarding Aadhaar card issues, CM Sarma mentioned a forthcoming notification to ensure those who haven't applied for NRC will not be granted Aadhaar cards, excluding tea garden areas. He also ordered to intensify the detection of illegal immigrants, specifying that measures have already been taken to push back 20-30 Bangladeshis in recent months.
