In response to directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a high-level committee meeting was organized on Thursday to assess the current situation along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The session, chaired by Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General of BSF (Eastern Command), included members of the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI).

The discussion covered recent communications with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the safety of minority communities in border districts. Since August 12, 2024, the border forces have conducted 722 meetings and 1367 Simultaneous Coordinated Patrols (SCP) in vulnerable areas.

During these meetings, BGB officials were urged to stop illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals into India. BGB assured full measures to protect Indian and minority communities in Bangladesh. Real-time information exchange on operational matters continues between the two forces.

The BSF has also held 614 village coordination meetings with Indian border villagers to update them on the situation in Bangladesh and seek their cooperation. Additional meetings with sister agencies aimed at bolstering border security have also been conducted.

The Indo-Bangladesh border has generally remained peaceful. The BSF is committed to maintaining International Boundary sanctity and ensuring the safety of the border populace. BSF personnel are on round-the-clock duty, collaborating with BGB under the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP).
