India marked a significant achievement with the successful launch of the Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, according to a statement from the Defence Ministry. The test was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
The Defence Ministry confirmed that the launch validated all operational and technical parameters. In an official statement, it was mentioned, 'A successful launch of an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-4 was carried out from ITR in Chandipur, Odisha on September 6, 2024.'
Earlier this year, on April 4, the Strategic Forces Command along with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-launched the Agni-Prime missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The trial met all objectives, validating reliable performance as recorded by multiple range sensors, including ships positioned at the terminal point.
The first pre-induction night launch of the new generation ballistic missile, Agni Prime, was also flight-tested in June 2023 by DRDO from the same island. (ANI)
