The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has expelled Sujeet Kumar over allegations of anti-party activities, according to party spokesperson Santrupt Misra. Misra voiced the party's disappointment, stating that Kumar had betrayed their trust and prioritized personal interests over party loyalty.
BJD President Naveen Patnaik made the decision to expel Kumar, a move described as 'unfortunate' by Misra. Kumar was accused of forsaking his responsibilities to the party and the people of Kalahandi, who had placed their faith in him. Misra highlighted the betrayal felt by both the party and its supporters.
Following his expulsion, Kumar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at an event in Delhi attended by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Kumar expressed his gratitude and highlighted the BJP's efforts in advancing Odisha's development. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his focus on eastern India and credited the state's progress to the tireless efforts of the BJP-led government in Odisha.
