In a historic move to enhance Indian education in the UAE, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has inaugurated its first Regional Office (RO) and Centre of Excellence (CoE) outside India, located in Dubai. This landmark event was celebrated with a special orientation session on Teachers' Day, attended by CBSE officials, representatives from the Indian Mission in Dubai, and principals from 78 schools across Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The session served as a platform to outline the new office's objectives, scope, and anticipated impact on the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of the CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai on February 13, 2024, during his visit to the UAE, with operations commencing on July 2, 2024, at the Consulate General of India in Dubai.

During the orientation, Dr. Ram Shankar, Director of CBSE RO & CoE in Dubai, presented a detailed overview of CBSE's mission in the region. He emphasized the board's focus on promoting outcome-based education, integrating art and health education, and aligning new skill subjects with global educational trends. The board also plans to implement assessment reforms to enhance competency-based and student-friendly education.

The new regional office aims to oversee exams in the region and promote experiential learning through innovative methods such as sports, storytelling, and toy-based learning. The Centre of Excellence will focus on in-service teacher training, equipping educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to keep pace with educational innovations and global teaching methodologies.

In his address, Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, highlighted the importance of this new development, stating, "The Centre for Excellence will empower teachers with cutting-edge training, keeping them updated on best practices and innovative technologies. This will significantly enrich the learning experience for students." He added, "The office symbolizes the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of thousands of stakeholders and will serve as a beacon of excellence and a hub for academic support in the years to come."
