Two significant earthquakes struck off the northern coast of British Columbia on Sunday, yet there were no immediate reports of damage. The first quake, registering a magnitude of 6.5, occurred at 3:20 pm local time near Haida Gwaii at a depth of 33 kilometres. Another quake with a magnitude of 4.5 followed an hour later in the same area.

According to the US Tsunami Warning Center, there was no tsunami threat associated with these quakes. Local authorities, including Natural Resources Canada, reported no damage.

Ben Wilson, a local resident and food and beverage manager at the Willows Golf Course in Sandspit, mentioned that while the ground shake was noticeable, it did not last long enough to cause concern. 'This one was definitely more noticeable than some, but not by any means, the biggest one I've ever felt here,' he said.
