Doda Dispatches EVMs for First Phase of 2024 Assembly Elections Under Tight Security

The District Election Authority of Doda has efficiently dispatched 800 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to three secure strong rooms within the district on Monday. This initiative is in preparation for the first phase of the 2024 assembly elections, scheduled for September 18, under stringent security measures.

Harvinder Singh, the District Election Officer (DEO) of Doda, confirmed that all EVMs have reached their designated constituencies, ensuring a free and fair election process. Singh emphasized the commitment to uphold electoral integrity with necessary precautions. The district consists of 160,057 male voters and 150,521 female voters across three constituencies: Bhaderwah, Doda, and Doda West.

Polling in Jammu and Kashmir will occur in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 4. The Union Territory will conduct voting for 90 assembly constituencies, representing 88.06 lakh electors. The National Conference and Congress have made seat-sharing arrangements for the elections, while BJP has released its first list of candidates, aiming to include diverse communities and castes in their representation.
