Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday lauded Comrade Suryanarayan as a steadfast advocate for the working class both within and outside the legislative halls. Addressing a National Symposium on the 'Role of Labour Movement in the Development of Karnataka' at Town Hall, commemorating the birth centenary of Comrade Suryanarayana Rao, Siddaramaiah highlighted Suryanarayan's unwavering commitment to the labor cause.

The CM fondly remembered Suryanarayan's meticulous preparation and compelling speeches, which were anticipated by many. He stressed that Suryanarayan, prioritizing the interests of the working class, was not driven by power but by dedication and compassion. Siddaramaiah also criticized today's political climate, remarking that some politicians exhibit authoritarian tendencies and distort the truth. He underscored that Suryanarayan always communicated truthfully, avoiding disruption and advocating for peace.

The CM announced the government's continued efforts to support the working class and criticized right-wing groups like BJP and RSS for opposing worker-friendly policies. He also promised a positive response to establishing a museum dedicated to the history and struggles of the working class. The symposium saw participation from CITU General Secretary Tapan Sen, Comrade Suryanarayan's daughter Mrs. Rekha, and several other activists, with Comrade BJK Nair presiding over the event.

Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah expressed concerns over the growing casteism among educated people. Addressing an international seminar titled 'Mahatma Gandhi for the 21st Century' at Gandhi Bhavan in Bengaluru, he lamented that the caste system had historically deprived many of education, and noted that it was a tragedy that educated individuals are increasingly adopting casteist attitudes.
