In a significant update, retail giant Trent Ltd and state-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) are set to be added to the National Stock Exchange's benchmark index, Nifty 50, starting from September 30. This announcement came from NSE Indices on Friday.

As a part of the periodic review, drug firm Divi's Laboratories and technology services provider LTI Mindtree will be removed from the Nifty 50 index. The Index Maintenance Sub-Committee (Equity) of NSE Indices Ltd approved these changes, which will become effective from September 30, 2024.

Additionally, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Divi's Laboratories, JSW Energy, LTIMindtree, Macrotech Developers Ltd, NHPC, and Union Bank of India will join the Nifty Next 50 index. Other exclusions from various indices include Tata Motors Ltd's 'A' Ordinary Shares due to a capital reduction scheme.
