Germany Investigates Suspected Drone Espionage at Critical Industrial Sites
German companies Covestro and Holcim are aiding an investigation into suspected espionage after drones flew over industrial sites in northern Germany. Authorities are probing potential sabotage linked to Russian drones. Military and industrial firms are cooperating, while the prosecutor's office has yet to provide updates.
German chemicals group Covestro and Swiss cement maker Holcim announced on Friday their assistance in Germany's investigation into suspected espionage after drones were flown over critical industrial sites.
Authorities are suspecting espionage and sabotage activities related to repeated drone flights over northern German infrastructure. The German military's Territorial Command is providing radar data to aid the investigation.
Other industrial players, including Wintershall Dea, are on high alert. The prosecutor's office and police have not released further details, but suspicions focus on Russian Orlan-10 drones. Germany remains vigilant about sabotage given its military support for Ukraine.
