Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday announced that the Congress Legislature Party has unanimously condemned the Governor's move to sanction prosecution and expressed unwavering support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The resolution was made during a meeting at Vidhana Soudha, spearheaded by senior legislator R V Deshpande and seconded by Tanveer Sait.
Shivakumar highlighted the unified stance of all party MLAs behind CM Siddaramaiah, noting the presence of all Congress MLAs, MLCs, and MPs except the six MLAs in Delhi for a speaker-mandated training. He accused BJP and JDS of trying to destabilize the democratically elected government, asserting, "They will not be able to unseat the government, the whole party stands behind the CM."
Shivakumar also mentioned plans to meet with the High Command in Delhi on August 23 to discuss the situation and their petition against the Governor's decision. He criticized BJP's efforts to remove leaders like Rahul Gandhi, claiming the party was conspiring to unseat Siddaramaiah. Shivakumar called on the Governor to withdraw his sanction to maintain the respectability of the chair and uphold the Constitution.
