Ravinder Raina, the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate for the Nowshera Assembly constituency in the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, held a spirited roadshow on Thursday. Earlier in the day, he officially filed his nomination for the seat.

Raina asserted that there is a significant momentum for the BJP across Jammu and Kashmir. 'There is a strong wave of BJP in the entire J&K. Despite being close to the international border, BJP workers in Nowshera gathered with full zeal and enthusiasm,' he told ANI. He expressed confidence that the BJP government would form with a substantial majority.

The BJP leader also took the opportunity to criticize Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his alliance partner, the National Conference, accusing them of disrespecting the revered Maharajas of the region. 'Rahul Gandhi and his alliance partner National Conference have always insulted the very respected Maharajas of J&K. The people here will definitely respond to Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and their allies,' Raina said.

Jammu and Kashmir comprises 90 Assembly constituencies, with seven seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and nine for Scheduled Tribes (STs). According to the Election Commission of India, the region has 88.06 lakh eligible voters. In the last Assembly elections, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) won 28 seats, the BJP secured 25, the National Conference obtained 15, and the Congress garnered 12.

These polls will be the first in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. Polling will occur in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
