The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) conducted state-wide protests on Thursday, alleging that the Congress has disrespected Governor Thawarchand Gehlot after he green-lit prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah related to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.

The protests, spearheaded by the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, also saw participation from notable BJP figures like former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan. Addressing the rally, Narayan asserted it was a fight against corruption and urged the Congress to take immediate action against their Chief Minister.

On the other hand, CM Siddaramaiah questioned the governor's impartiality, comparing his swift action in granting prosecution against him to a more delayed approach in a similar case involving former CM HD Kumaraswamy. Siddaramaiah's comments came after the Karnataka High Court instructed the trial court to withhold any action based on the governor's sanction until further notice.
