The Indian contingent basked in glory on Day 2 of the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship, amassing 19 medals, including nine golds, last Thursday.

This triumph augmented India's gold tally to an impressive 12, following three golds secured on the championship's opening day.

In another stellar performance, Neeru Pahtak captured the ninth gold for India in the women's 400m, clocking 54.50 seconds. Her compatriot, Sandra Mol Sabu, claimed silver, while Lanka's K Takshima Nuhansa took home the bronze.

Other Indian gold medalists included Jay Kumar (men's 400m), Sharuk Khan (men's 3,000m), and Prathiksha Yamuna (women's Long Jump), among others.

In a tight men's 110m hurdles race, Sri Lanka's WP Sandun Koshala edged out India's Nayan Pradip Sarde for the gold.
