Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has confirmed he will visit the Kursk nuclear power plant in Russia at the end of August, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Last week, Russia's Defence Ministry accused Ukraine of plotting an attack on the Kursk nuclear plant as part of its ongoing conflict with Russia, a claim that Ukraine has denied.

"We hope that understanding the danger of Ukrainian provocations against Russian nuclear power plants will prompt IAEA management to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of nuclear power plants in Zaporizhzhia and Kursk," Zakharova said at a weekly news briefing.
