In a significant move, the Supreme Court has constituted a National Task Force to make recommendations aimed at preventing violence and ensuring safe working conditions for medical professionals. This decision comes in the wake of the brutal rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata, which has triggered nationwide protests.

The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) of AIIMS, New Delhi, has extended its sincere gratitude to the apex court for taking Suo Motu Cognizance of the pressing issues concerning healthcare professionals. In a press release, the RDA announced that its members would provide OPD services from Jantar Mantar on Wednesday as a testament to their unwavering commitment to patient care.

Following a General Body Meeting (GBM) held on August 20, the RDA AIIMS decided to continue their strike, suspending academic activities, elective OPDs, ward services, and OT services, while maintaining emergency services. The association has also called for enhanced safety measures for healthcare professionals to address the escalating violence against them.
