CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury remains under medical care at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi due to a respiratory infection, a party source disclosed on Sunday.
The 72-year-old politician is being monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU), the source added.
Yechury was admitted to AIIMS on August 19 to treat a pneumonia-like chest infection, although the specific details of his condition have not been revealed by the hospital.
In a statement released on Saturday, the CPI(M) confirmed that a team of specialist doctors is overseeing his treatment for the respiratory infection.
Additionally, Yechury recently underwent cataract surgery.
