Reliance Industries Ltd, under the leadership of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has actively shifted its strategic focus from its traditional oil and petrochemical business towards emerging sectors in clean energy and healthcare. Over the past five years, the conglomerate has invested a staggering $13 billion in acquisitions across telecom, media, retail, and healthcare.

Last week marked another significant milestone for Reliance, as it acquired oncology platform Karkinos Healthcare for Rs 375 crore, thereby strengthening its presence in the digital healthcare domain. According to Morgan Stanley, in the past five years, 48% of Reliance's acquisitions have been in technology, media, and telecom sectors, with an increasing emphasis on healthcare.

RIL's strategic acquisition portfolio includes major deals like Hathway Cable and Datacom Ltd, REC Solar Holdings, and JustDial. With Karkinos, Reliance aims to integrate its technological prowess and distribution networks to facilitate an advanced healthcare delivery model encompassing digital health platforms and telemedicine services, further expanding its healthcare ecosystem.
