Maharashtra police arrested a school teacher in Akola district on molestation charges following complaints from six schoolgirls. The accused, Pramod Manohar Sardar, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening, and statements from the victim girls have been recorded, according to police officials.

Superintendent of Police Akolka Bachchan Singh said, 'Akola Police received a complaint of molestation from six schoolgirls against Pramod Manohar Sardar, a teacher at Zilla Parishad School in Kajikhed. The teacher was arrested immediately, and victim statements were documented.' Cases under sections 74 and 75 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act have been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.

This incident occurs as the nation reels from the murder and alleged sexual assault of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The medical community is protesting for justice and better security laws across several states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for swift and strict punishment for the perpetrators, while the Supreme Court has formed a National Task Force to recommend measures for the safety of medical professionals.
