Madhya Pradesh Strengthens Security in Medical Institutions After Kolkata Incident

Following a tragic incident in Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh has mandated CCTV surveillance and enhanced security measures in all government medical colleges and hospitals. Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, especially in sensitive areas, to ensure the safety of doctors, female students, and patients.

In response to a tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, the Madhya Pradesh government has mandated CCTV surveillance in all state-run medical colleges and hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the necessity of enhanced security, particularly in areas like gynae wards where women are most vulnerable.

Shukla stressed the government's commitment to bolstering surveillance, stating that rigorous security measures are essential for the safety of girl students. Deans and superintendents have been instructed to remain vigilant, with increased manpower to address security gaps. Comprehensive protocols are also being implemented to ensure safety in government hospitals.

On August 14, the Director of Medical Education issued directives for improved security across medical colleges. These include CCTV cameras, enhanced lighting, and security personnel in sensitive areas such as parking lots and staircases. Strict control is mandated at entry and exit points to block anti-social elements. Continuous monitoring and collaboration with local police are also being enforced to safeguard patients and staff.
