Security forces, including a joint patrol party of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police, were subjected to intense gunfire in the Cheel, Dudu area of Udhampur District. Inspector Singh's valiant effort was honored by the CRPF, who posted on social media acknowledging his sacrifice and bravery.

The incident comes at a critical time as Jammu and Kashmir is set to hold assembly elections for the first time in a decade. Polling is scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
