CRPF Inspector Succumbs to Injuries in Udhampur Encounter, Security Tightened

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Inspector who was injured during an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, has succumbed to his injuries. The deceased officer has been identified as Inspector Kuldeep Singh.

According to police officials, a joint patrol party of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police came under heavy fire in the Cheel, Dudu area of Udhampur District. Inspector Kuldeep Singh heroically lost his life in the ensuing operation. Meanwhile, authorities have ramped up security measures in the region.

In an emotional post on X, the CRPF stated, "On 19 August, in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, brave Inspector Kuldeep Kumar of 187 Battalion CRPF sacrificed his life on the altar of duty while fighting the terrorists. CRPF salutes our brave soldier's indomitable courage, valour and devotion to the motherland. We always stand with the family of our brave man." The encounter was reported to have broken out earlier Monday in Dudu village.

Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up for elections after a decade, with polling set for September 18, 25, and October 1, the Election Commission announced. The vote count will occur on October 4, involving 90 assembly constituencies, including general, ST, and SC categories.

In a related incident on August 14, security forces killed a terrorist in J-K's Doda district. "One terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing operation. One AK 47 has been recovered in addition to an M4 rifle. Intermittent firing continues," stated the White Knight Corps. Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain visited Doda, where an Indian Army captain also lost his life during the operation.
