Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday initiated steps to bolster the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, which mandates non-Arunachalee individuals to obtain a permit to enter the state. The measure aims to curb illegal entry and prolonged stays by non-local migrants.

In a significant meeting in Itanagar with top government officials and leaders of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU), Khandu highlighted the importance of protecting indigenous tribes from outside influx. He emphasized the state's commitment to this cause, noting the necessity of strengthening the ILP system.

AAPSU, led by President Dozi Tana Tara, presented a detailed survey through a PowerPoint presentation, outlining methods to fortify the current system. Khandu underscored the need for inputs from the state's premier students' organization to effectively implement these measures. (ANI)
