In a tragic turn of events, three children died and 37 others were hospitalized after a food poisoning episode at a private hostel in Andhra's Anakapalle, officials confirmed. According to Anakapalle Collector Vijaya Krishnan, the affected children are receiving treatment across various hospitals in Anakapalle and Visakhapatnam districts.

"The incident occurred at a hostel managed by Aradhana Christian Trust in Kailasa Patnam, Kotavuratla Mandal of Anakapalle district," stated Krishnan. "The students consumed snacks like samosa and biriyani on Saturday, followed by rice and sambar at night. They reported vomiting and uneasiness on Sunday. Hostel management informed parents and sent the children home that day," Krishnan added.

Once home, the children fell ill and were admitted to hospitals. The deceased were identified as Jashuva, Bhavani, and Shradha. On Monday, YSRCP Chief and former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed deep sorrow and called for the best medical care for affected students and support for bereaved families. He criticized the authorities for glaring monitoring lapses, urging immediate system improvements and preventive measures to avoid future tragedies.
