Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar took a unique approach to Raksha Bandhan on Monday by tying a Rakhi around a tree in Patna, underscoring the importance of environmental protection. The act was part of the 'Bihar Vraksh Suraksha Diwas' celebration.

In a social media message on 'X', Kumar shared his sentiments about Raksha Bandhan, calling it a festival of love and affection between brothers and sisters. He extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of Bihar and the nation.

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the festival by having schoolgirls in the national capital tie rakhis on his wrist. In his message, PM Modi wished for the happiness and prosperity of all, stressing the festival's symbolism of sibling love.

Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Hindu festival that highlights the bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie rakhis on their brothers' wrists, who in return offer gifts as tokens of love and protection. This festival, rich in cultural significance, has been celebrated in India for centuries, with mentions in ancient Hindu texts.
