In a historic turnout, Delhi University has reported that 83,678 candidates have accepted their allotted programs and colleges, significantly surpassing the total available 71,600 seats, a senior university official confirmed.

The acceptance process began on Friday, allocating 97,387 seats in the first round. Candidates have until August 21 to confirm their admission by paying the necessary fees.

With the academic session set to start on August 29, the university administered extra allocations to ensure optimal seat occupancy. As of 5:00 PM on August 18, 2024, 10,016 candidates confirmed their admission and 2,092 chose to freeze their status, DU Dean of Admission Haneet Gandhi told ANI. Additionally, 5,609 students opted for an upgrade in their course or college preference.

The seat allocation was based on a unique Common Rank. A total of 71,600 seats (excluding supernumerary seats) are available across 69 colleges and departments. This year's admissions were part of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), which saw 2,45,287 applicants in Phase-I, with 1,85,543 completing Phase-II by submitting their preferences.

To aid transparency, the University has introduced a dashboard feature that enables candidates to view cutoffs and ranks determining their seat allocation based on their category and quota.
