Security Forces Intensify Search in Anantnag After Deadly Encounter

Search operations by security forces in Kokernag, Anantnag District, Jammu and Kashmir continued for the third consecutive day on Monday. The intensified operation follows a deadly encounter where two soldiers and a civilian were killed by terrorists on Saturday.
Officials have increased the security presence in the Ahlan Gadole forest area to intensify the search. IGP Kashmir Zone VK Birdi noted that security forces had identified terrorist movements in the region's upper reaches, prompting the ongoing search.
An earlier encounter occurred on August 11 in Basantgarh, Udhampur district, based on specific intelligence. The joint operation involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF. Soldiers Havildar Dipak Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma lost their lives during the Anantnag encounter, with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.
