Ongoing Kokernag Operation: Two Soldiers and Civilian Killed, Army Pays Tribute

Inspector General of Kashmir VK Birdi announced on Sunday that the operation in the upper reaches of Gagar-Mandu area, Kokernag, Anantnag district is ongoing. Security forces initiated the operation based on intelligence about terrorist movement. An exchange of fire ensued after spotting the terrorists.

During the operation, two soldiers were killed while another was hospitalized with injuries and is reported to be stable. 'Two Indian army soldiers lost their lives in the encounter,' Birdi confirmed. Furthermore, a civilian succumbed to his injuries, and another injured civilian is under treatment and stable.

IG Birdi speculated that the terrorist group consisted of 3-4 members. Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and all ranks of the Indian Army honored Havildar Dipak Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma, who died during the encounter.
