National Handloom Day Celebration: A Decade of Promoting Indian Heritage

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami extends greetings on National Handloom Day, highlighting ten years of growth under PM Modi. The event will be celebrated at Vigyan Bhawan, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as chief guest, and showcases the contributions of the handloom sector to India’s socio-economic landscape.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his greetings on National Handloom Day, marking a decade of significant growth in the handloom sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. In a social media message on platform X, CM Dhami highlighted the identity of the handloom industry as a symbol of Swadeshi. He encouraged citizens to support national development by purchasing Khadi products.

The 10th National Handloom Day will be commemorated at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on August 7, featuring Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as the chief guest. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh and Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles Pabitra Margherita will also attend the event, which will see participation from MPs, eminent personalities, designers, industry representatives, and over 1000 weavers from across the nation.

A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Sant Kabir Awards and the National Handloom Awards to exceptional weavers. Additionally, the Vice President will unveil the Award Catalogue and Coffee Table Book titled 'Parampara- Sustainability in Handloom Traditions of India.' The celebration aligns with the vision of promoting indigenous industries, inspired by the Swadeshi Movement launched on August 7, 1905.

National Handloom Day aims to honor weavers and boost the handloom industry's morale, recognizing their vital role in India's cultural, traditional, and economic fabric. The celebrations also seek to raise awareness of the handloom sector's importance in the country's socio-economic development.
