In a coordinated effort, the Indian Army and Manipur Police have seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition during an intensive search operation in Bishnupur District, Manipur. The operation resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one Sniper rifle, a 9mm Pistol, three Grenades, and other war-like stores, according to a press release.

Acting on specific intelligence, the Indian Army launched the search operation on Thursday alongside the Manipur Police. The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal, the press release confirmed. This successful recovery underscores the seamless cooperation between the Army and law enforcement agencies, highlighting their dedication to regional security.

The Indian Army remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace and stability in the region. Earlier, in a joint operation on July 17, a substantial arms cache was discovered in Imphal East District. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence reported that this earlier operation involved a 72-hour extensive search assisted by Patrol and Explosive Detection Dogs, resulting in the seizure of an array of weaponry.

The recovered items from the Imphal East operation included thirteen Long Range Mortars, four Burmese Iron Rods, an Improvised Explosive Device, a Modified Grenade Launcher, a G3 Rifle, six 303 Rifles, and a .22 Pistol among others. The findings were transferred to local police authorities for further disposal and investigation.
