CP Radhakrishnan officially assumed the role of Maharashtra's Governor on Wednesday, succeeding Ramesh Bais, during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya administered the oath of office in the presence of notable political and administrative figures.

Radhakrishnan's appointment marks him as the 21st Governor of Maharashtra. Among those who welcomed him were Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadanvis and Ajit Pawar, who presented flower bouquets as a gesture of respect and recognition.

The ceremony featured State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik reading out the Warrant of Appointment. The Police Band performed the National Anthem and the State Song. Prominent attendees included Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, former CM Narayan Rane, DGP Rashmi Shukla, and Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar.

Radhakrishnan brings substantial experience to his new role, having previously served as the Governor of Jharkhand and holding additional charges in Telangana and Puducherry. His political journey began in Tamil Nadu with the RSS and BJP. He has held multiple roles, including BJP Secretary for Tamil Nadu and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Textiles.

During his political career, he has addressed the UN General Assembly and led significant initiatives like the 'Ratha Yatra' in Tamil Nadu. His tenure as Chairman of the Coir Board saw record exports. Recently, he served as BJP's All India in Charge for Kerala before his gubernatorial appointment in Jharkhand in February 2023.

An enthusiastic sportsperson and well-traveled individual, Radhakrishnan has a strong background in various sports and international experiences, enhancing his diverse profile as the new Governor of Maharashtra.
