The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating the incident. Hill was issued two traffic citations and later released but wasn't arrested.
Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill faced a tense encounter with law enforcement just before his team's home game on Sunday. Hill was handcuffed and placed on the ground after officers stopped him for reportedly driving in a dangerous manner, according to the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association.
Hill, who led his team in receiving yards last season, was stopped near the Dolphins' stadium. Officers stated that he was uncooperative, leading them to handcuff him for immediate safety. The incident, captured on video, shows Hill placed face down on the road while handcuffed. He was ultimately issued two traffic citations and released without arrest.
An Internal Affairs investigation is now underway, with one officer placed on administrative duties. The Dolphins and the NFL have not commented. Hill, who recorded seven catches for 130 yards during the game, celebrated a touchdown by mimicking being handcuffed.
