During a heated discussion on the budget in Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur took a sharp jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statements on Mahabharata and Chakravyuh, branding him an 'accidental Hindu' with a superficial understanding of the epic.

'At the very start of the Lok Sabha, I had asked whether the opposition members waving copies of the Constitution in the name of saving it even knew how many pages it had,' Thakur said. 'They haven't read the Constitution or the Mahabharata, and surprisingly, they haven't even watched the Mahabharata. Otherwise, they'd know it wasn't six but seven Maharathis involved in Abhimanyu's killing.'

Thakur went on to advise Gandhi to at least read 'The Great Indian Novel' by his colleague Shashi Tharoor for better insights into Mahabharata and Chakravyuh. In his intense tirade, Thakur also revisited historical grievances against Congress, mentioning the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi and various scandals allegedly involving Congress leaders. He criticized Gandhi for misusing historical narratives, accusing him of building 'Chakravyuhs' that have trapped the nation.
