Southern California's Wrightwood community is grappling with a fierce wildfire that has forced many residents to evacuate. The sky dramatically shifted from cherry red to black within 90 minutes, according to 20-year-old missionary Alex Luna.

"It was very, I would say, hellish-like," Luna stated on Tuesday night, describing the scene as ash fell like snow. Wrightwood, home to around 4,500 people, is one of many affected areas, with the Bridge Fire putting tens of thousands of homes at risk. Evacuation orders are also in place for parts of the popular Big Bear ski town.

Similarly, major fires are causing havoc in other Western states including Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada, where around 20,000 residents near Reno have fled. In Northern California, wildfires have decimated parts of Clearlake City, leading to the loss of homes, buildings, and vehicles, and causing mass evacuations. California is bracing for an even harsher wildfire season as conditions remain dire.
