HRTC to Boost Fleet with Electric Vehicles, Increase Daily Wages

Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has announced an increase in the honorarium for daily wagers from Rs. 375 to Rs. 400. He also confirmed the completion of appointing 357 conductors. Agnihotri made these statements while chairing a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Board of Directors meeting on Friday, focusing on reducing expenditure and boosting revenue.

Agnihotri declared that HRTC, which serves 70 lakh residents, will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary. He revealed plans to purchase 297 electric vehicles and replace 24 old Volvo buses. Additionally, the discount scheme on bus fares will continue, and 100 Tempo travelers will be introduced on specific routes for passenger comfort. In the near future, 250 diesel buses will also be acquired.

The Board of Directors expressed gratitude for the state's financial support, which has ensured timely salaries and pensions for employees over the past five months. HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur promised further improvements in the corporation's operations and services. Present at the meeting were Board members Ranjit Singh Rana, Ram Gopal Sharma, Mohinder Sandhu, Pradeep Surya, Nishant Thakur, and Manmohan Katoch, along with other officials.
