Tragedy struck Patna on Monday morning as the bodies of two children were recovered from an under-construction site under Beur police station. The children, who were reported missing from Gardanibagh on Sunday, were found dead, sparking a detailed police investigation.

The incident came to light when police were informed around 11 pm on Sunday. Surveillance footage revealed three children together near the site. Upon interrogating the third child, it was discovered that the trio was heading for a horse ride near the Gardanibagh bypass. Police later found the victims' bodies close to a pond at the construction site.

Initial investigations suggest that the children drowned in the pond, as their clothes and slippers were discovered nearby. Patna's Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajeev Mishra, confirmed the preliminary findings, though he acknowledged that the minors' families suspect foul play, claiming the children were beaten to death.

An FIR has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing, aided by a dog squad and forensics team. The Bihar government has pledged a Rs 4 lakh compensation if drowning is confirmed as the cause of death.
