Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, marking the end of a storied career. The announcement comes two years after his last appearance in the national jersey, citing the need to move forward in life.

Debuting in 2010 in an ODI against Australia, Dhawan made significant contributions across all formats. He played his last game for India in 2022 against Bangladesh. Dhawan accumulated 6793 runs in ODIs at an average of 44.11, with 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries. In Tests, he averaged 40.61 with 2315 runs and seven centuries.

Dhawan's IPL career cements his legacy as he appeared in 222 matches, scoring 6769 runs and achieving the record for the most fours in IPL history. Dhawan shared his gratitude in a social media post, thanking fans, the BCCI, and his domestic associations for their support throughout his journey.
