Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has called for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in MUDA site allocations, questioning the reluctance of Congress leaders if they have nothing to hide. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Bommai emphasized that if no scandal existed, such a major controversy wouldn't have surfaced.
Bommai clarified the difference between an inquiry and an investigation, asserting that the MUDA scam necessitates a thorough investigation. He urged a complete probe to determine the circumstances and beneficiaries of these allocations, stressing that media reports have already highlighted the scandal's details. Bommai pointed out clear legal violations, particularly the non-adherence to the 50:50 allocation rule in certain layouts, raising questions about how these sites were obtained.
Addressing the Valmiki Corporation scam, Bommai remarked on former minister B. Nagendra's arrest, noting the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) role in unearthing Nagendra's involvement after initially giving him a clean chit. He stated that ongoing investigations would further clarify the financial department's role. On tourism department issues, Bommai mentioned having no information. (ANI)
